Recipe: Santa Fe Hot and Spicy Chili

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Large Yellow Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic, chopped
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage, casing removed
  • 1 pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Cumin
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Chili Powder
  • 2 teaspoons Sea Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • 2 cans Kidney Beans
  • 2 (16 ounces each) cans Diced Tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a skillet and sauté the onions until they are translucent.
  2. Add the garlic and sauté until it begins to turn golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add the sausage and ground beef and cook until the meats are brown.
  4. Drain off any fat.
  5. Season with the cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Add the beans and tomatoes and simmer for 30 minutes.
