Recipe: Chili Pasta With Beans
Summary: Ground sirloin, onion, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce combined with a small pasta shape. Seasoned with chili powder, cumin and oregano.
Ingredients
- 1 Tablespoon Canola Oil
- 3/4 Cup White Onion, chopped
- 3/4 Pound Ground Sirloin
- 4 Teaspoons Chili Powder
- 1 Teaspoon Ground Cumin
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 2 Cups Bottled Water
- 3/4 Teaspoon Sea Salt
- 2-1/4 Cups Wagon Wheel-Shaped Pasta, uncooked
- 1 Can No-Salt-Added Pinto Beans, (15 ounces), rinsed and drained
- 1 Can Fire-Roasted Diced Tomatoes with green chilies, (14.5 ounces), un-drained
- 1 Can No-Salt-Added Tomato Sauce, (8 ounce)
Instructions
- In a large nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium heat.
- Add the onion and beef to the skillet and cook for 4 minutes or until the onion is tender and the beef is browned.
- Stir in the oregano, cumin and chili powder and cook 1 minute.
- Stir in 2 cups of water, salt, pasta, beans, tomatoes and tomato sauce and bring to a boil.
- Cover, reduce heat and simmer 18 minutes or until pasta is done.
